Property of Art Dept. is an artwear brand born from paint-splattered floors, late-night sketchbooks, and the belief that creativity belongs to everyone bold enough to make their mark. Founded as a passion project by self-taught artist Louie DeVito, the brand blends streetwear aesthetics, raw expression, and the spirit of the studio into wearable art.

Louie’s visual work is heavily inspired by Abstract, Primitive, and Neo-Expressionist styles—movements defined by emotion, instinct, and the courage to create with raw emotion.

His philosophy is simple but powerful:
“Making a mark on canvas is the moment of freedom that creates something from nothing.”

It’s this energy—this spark of creation—that fuels every design in Property of Art Dept. Louie’s approach centers on bold color, energetic brushstrokes, and a willingness to let intuition take the lead. The result is work that feels alive, textured, and emotionally charged—art that captures the moment the unseen becomes visible.

The creative journey has led Louie from local showcases to national exhibitions, a major art fair, international streetwear collaborations, and a steadily growing community of collectors and supporters who connect with the work’s honesty and edge.

Today, Louie creates from a shared art space in the Philadelphia area with his partner, Jenny (@i_am_littlefawn), and their three studio cats—Pablo, Hugo, and Archie—who love to supervise the process and try to dip those paws in paint.

Property of Art Dept. exists for the artists, the rebels, the creators, and anyone who believes that expression is a way of life.
